Churchill Downs

from How Did I Get Here? by Bright Campa

/

about

I Got A Story To Tell. Talking about the downfall of being an independent underdog in the life of competition and currency.

Bright Campa releases his most anticipated lyrical rap song of all time during this self-titled remix of “Churchill Downs” by Jack Harlow (Ft. Drake). This is his first remix from Jack Harlow's latest debut, “Come Home The Kids Miss You.”

The first verse interposes a flow unlike the dynamic duo of Jack Harlow and Drake, who spoke about climbing the music industry ladder, being unapologetic and shameless is the trend. Being a forgiven sinner to take the prize, this journey is only for the seeker.

lyrics

[Intro]
Mm

[Verse 1]
Numbers adding up, things looking bright
Wear some shades, tolerant to games
Never been ashamed of playing the Devil's game
All for desire, like, baby aren't you tired?
Sins for the win, it's all on you
Set your destiny, face the irony
What you hold is accomplished
All around the block, they like what you rock
I figured what you figured
They thought about your figure
She's asks when will they change?
I told her, don't focus on the hypothesis
Holy pocus the media coverage
I had enough, time to do or lose
Go by what I feel is right, step out cleanse my soul
No addictions anymore, I lost four bros
It brought sorrow to my heart (Mm)

[Verse 2]
Turning twenty-three
Keep my family tree free of the illusions
Black people changed the nation
So don't get it twisted
We're still on a mission, the boy back in the booth
She's been down to ride, don't waste your time
I can go on and on what I own, but that's another show
Bright Campa on Billboard (Ayy)
Looking back when I was poor
Ramen Noodles, sardines, credit debt, family upset
Reckless relationships, blissful indigo
Living rough and raw, nothing to lose
Rest well to Pac, stuck in a reality
Where nightmares come true
Shooters, looters, twelve to sixteen-year-olds wanna fold ya
It’s easy to lecture when they don’t know ya
It’s easy to finesse when ya move slow
It doesn't matter, telling them to go left
When everyone thinks their right
Arguments with a new lover, every night
Thinking of a time loop, in a new hole
Except I don't wanna pull out (he-he)

[Verse 3]
Don't be a coward, we were granted power for a reason
I pray my angels don't leave me
Everything seen was a part of my dreams
Successful because I stuck to my beliefs
Who am I kidding? My selfishness brought me here
Broke so many hearts, I can't feel closure
Walk through many roads, no fear

[Bridge]
Black tainted cards pulled up by the rear
Thought it was my first time to disappear
I wonder if death is an empty dream
If rebirth is a sequence, that's real
Ain't no way I'm a disposable

[Verse 4]
My income stays glowing up
Musically blowing up, celebrate
Toast to me for surviving the streets
Roll my own joy of creation (For real)
No trust in strangers, the last one laced me
All touch from a feminine glimmer
Made me panic, shortcake got a record
A week later on, I came back to writing this poem
Originally for J. Cole, now on a Drake song
Remember the last sad story?
Put this on repeat before you lace your sneakers
God is not finished with me, yet-

[Verse 4]
Too many years of sorrow
Spent every hour overthinking
Lead me to a panic like a reckless plan B
Inheriting loneliness when you got a tribe
Is there more to life than money and bank accounts?
Is there more to life than cheap pleasures and sexual abuse?
Six-three-two days
I've been feeling some type of way (Whoa)
Don't wanna get locked up or die fighting
Free my spirit like I'm a hurting superstar
Every night, it’s a fright
You're aren't bright enough to write
Still doing drugs from rite aid
They don't care, being there for the pay
I say, aunt may, they caught a prey (Ooh)

[Refrain]
Is there more to life than money and bank accounts?
Is there more to life than cheap pleasures and sexual abuse?
Six-thirty-two days
I've been feeling some type of way (Whoa)
Don't wanna get locked up or die fighting
Free my spirit like I'm a hurting-

[Verse 5]
Family feeling grey, sorry it cost a weight
Seth is one of the greats (Huh)
Still, my fate awaits (Ayy)
Let me set things straight, I don't wanna wait
Debate in a parade, persuade to overstay
I asked how to sway, when they betray the portrait (Ayy)
Awarded for recordings
I wake up every morning, the news gives me warnings (Mm)
Winning isn't earning, it comes with learning
There's no returning from hurting (Huh)

[Outro]
Sometimes things gotta end (Yo, run that back)
These changes, for real (For real)
